Past Committee Chair (2008-2009) of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce Agricultural Relations Committee, past president of Rotary International Club of Brookings, SD, and currently active with the SD Historical Society Foundation board member and Treasurer 2015-16.

My wife and I own agricultural, residential, and commercial properties in eastern South Dakota. I was raised on a family farming/livestock operation and involved in agriculture for more than forty years. These interests maintain my foundation in the agriculture and commercial sectors. From 1982-2003, (20 years) I was employed by Daktronics, Inc. as traded on the NASDAQ @ DAKT.

Ms Boomsma graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD in 2021 with an economics degree and land valuation minor.  She interned at Northern Plains Appraisal office.  Anna became an official South Dakota state registered trainee appraiser in 2024.

Anna’s focus is on agriculture and farm sites & operations. She currently resides in Watertown, SD.

Mr. Canham is a South Dakota native who grew up on a ranch outside of Miller, South Dakota. Throughout the years, he has worked extensively with his family’s ranching, vegetation and pest management ventures across South Dakota.

Carter graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Agricultural Business and a minor in Marketing. Soon after graduation, he joined American Land Agency, LLC as a Land Broker Associate and Land Manager. Working on the brokerage side, he has been able to gain hands-on experience working with buyers and sellers in the market. He decided to dive deeper into the market analysis and appraisal field by working cooperatively with Northern Plains Appraisal.

This joint opportunity has allowed him to further develop his understanding of agricultural land markets across South Dakota. Carter enjoys using the knowledge he has gained in the appraisal and brokerage fields to best serve his clients.

John Green

Registered Trainee Appraiser (SD)

Mr. Green started with Northern Plains Appraisal in May of 2022 and is currently working towards his Certified General appraisal license and eventual ARA and MAI designations.  He has appraisal experience in various types of agricultural property, commercial/industrial properties, and special use assignments, such as condemnation and eminent domain work.

Prior to his time at Northern Plain Appraisal, he worked for five years as a land use planner, first for the City of Rapid City (2018 to 2020) and then for El Paso County, Colorado (2020 to 2022).  As a land use planner, Mr. Green worked extensively in development project review for subdivisions, complex land use permits, and zoning administration.  In 2015, he received a B.S. degree in Geography and B.S. degree in Geographic Information Sciences (G.I.S.) from South Dakota State University.  In 2018, he completed his M.S. degree in Geography, also from South Dakota State University.

Mr. Green originally grew up in Sisters, Oregon.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, attending SDSU sporting events, and being outdoors hunting, fishing, and training his bird dog.

Mandy Trudeau

Certified General Appraiser (SD, IA, NE, MN)

Ms Trudeau grew up on a row crop and livestock farm in southeastern North Dakota. She graduated from South Dakota State University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in animal science business and production and minors in ag business and agronomy.

Mandy began her appraisal career in 2014 while finishing her bachelor’s degree and became fully certified in 2020. Mandy is currently licensed in South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.
